It's self catering B&B, so we took our own salad picnic which we ate in peaceful tranquility listening to the birds and the sheep out on the decking, washed down with a glass or two of very good NZ vino. There was also full laundry facilities for guests, for which we were extremely grateful, with soap powder provided and a washing line (if you have the time) or a tumble drier if not, or the weather is inclement. The next morning, we found free range eggs and bacon in the fridge, together with bread and all the usual cereals, juice and coffee, milk and so on. It was too much! Briar promised us some fresh brown bread for our breakfast, but she forgot to turn on the breadmaker the night before - I'm not quite sure who was the most devastated by this - her of us! NZ doesn't seem to go in for fresh bread like they do here so we were really looking forward to it. But that didn't spoil our stay in any way at all. To anyone planning to stay here, do take the trouble to get directions or at least the proper address - we stupidly spent a whole hour wandering up and down the River Road looking for it, not realising that we were on the wrong road... … Date of stay: March 2010 Value Rooms Location Cleanliness Service Sleep Quality Trip type: Traveled as a couple
This leads to a supermarket confrontation during which Betty slaps Helen in full view of other shoppers. (" Red in the Face ") Betty sees Glen in the passenger seat of his mother's car, parked at the bank. He tells her that he's not supposed to talk to her. She responds by confiding in him, saying: "I can't talk to anyone. I'm so sad. " He reaches his hand up to her and tells her that he wishes he were older. (" The Wheel ") Later, Glen runs away from home and camps out in the Draper's backyard playhouse. A few days later Betty discovers him, brings him into the house and lets him shower. Afterwards, Glen takes Betty's hand, saying, "I came to rescue you. I have money. " Glen suggets that they flee together. Betty realizes she has to call Helen. When he realizes her betrayal, he lashes out, shouting that he hates her. (" The Inheritance ") In late 1964, while Henry Francis, Betty Hofstadt, Robert Draper, and Sally Draper are shopping for a Christmas tree, Sally runs into Glen, who is working at the Christmas tree lot.

The hosts, Lynne & Stephen were very friendly and could not have made us more welcome. The room was warm and comfortable with all the usual facilities you would expect and the decor was very fresh and very clean. Breakfast options were full English (choose by item) or/and light - cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruits, croissants. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. RUB 9, 335 per night
