… Date of experience: January 2019 27 contributions 3 helpful votes Great indoor areas as well as an outdoor pool. It can take a little while to wait fir a waterslide if there is a party on. Otherwise great place. Date of experience: January 2018 jwkg95 wrote a review Oct 2018 Melbourne, Australia 32 contributions 8 helpful votes Everything you want/need in a gym. Nice modern equipment and facilities which are clean and well maintained. Staff are helpful and friendly and the quality of fitness instructors is outstanding. Such a great sense of community herewith the place always busy. The council has created a space for team sports which is rarely not in use, a really great aquatics Centre with indoor/ outdoor pools for laps, water play and slide areas and of course the more relaxed therapy and spa ares with steam/ sauna. The gym has state of the art equipment sufficient for busy times and plenty of options for classes and challenges for those wanting to really work on sculpturing their bodies.
An Aspiring Olympic Swimmer - Photo by Fotopedia Not to make sport of the Melbourne Sports and Aquatics Centre, but this is the ideal place if you're into sport, sport and more sport. And it's not just for you. This glorified leisure centre appears to cater for people of all age groups, including the two genders. I say two, because I once had to complete a survey during a swimming lesson, and one of the questions was, "Please tick one Male, Female, Other. " Lacking the discernment back then, I didn't realise that "Other" might have actually referred to eunuchs (pronounced "Yoo-nicks", for they're unique not ee-nutch). As a silly joke, I checked "Other". Upon reflection, there was an element of truth in that because I wasn't attracted to the opposite gender at the time. You know, the old "girl's germs, no returns" type of schoolyard behaviour coming into play. Nostalgia aside, one of the first things that would probably enter your mind as you step into the indoor swimming area is just how much the place resembles an Olympic swimming venue, where the world's best athletes tough it out for the gold medal.
